“I think the greatest of people in society carved niches that represented the unique expression of their combinations of talents, and if everyone had the luxury of expressing the unique combinations of talents in this world, our society would be transformed overnight.”- Neil DeGrasse Tyson
In our diversified and modern society, the opportunities for new business ideas are endless and are constantly growing. There is always an untapped audience that is craving attention.
At the beginning of this year, the Census Bureau confirmed that there has been a surge in new business post-pandemic. Nearly five million start-ups were founded in 2022. There has been a 42% increase in new businesses compared to the rates pre-pandemic (Pardue). The need for innovative business concepts and ideas is rapidly increasing; especially as society is rapidly growing its technology. American societies’ passion for business has been flourishing despite the unpredictable financial situation of the country.
There are a few ways to carve your path in the world of business. First, knowing your interests and the general idea of what type of business you’d like to focus on. A niche is a small part of a larger market that is defined by its own needs; a concept that is distinguished from the rest of the market. There are niches everywhere, endless new ideas for specific but uncommon audiences.
Once you know what area of business you’d like to enter, the next step is finding a problem within that sector of business that you feel you could solve and is affecting a piece of the desired audience. Be creative. Maybe it’s a flaw in a product, a marketable audience that is being ignored, or a brand-new product. It could be anything.
Whatever that problem or flaw may be, focus on the group it affects the most and gather their feedback to see what could be done or if your idea would be beneficial.
But remember, this is not the time to have all your focus on profits. This is the time to focus on growing your business by listening to all the feedback you are getting to adjust the business plan or product. This is the time to find out what your business venture needs to beat out competitors and satisfy your ideal audience.
Being able to stand out from the crowd is how you’re going to make it work. By having a product or skill that is marketable and profitable over a period of time. Something you can build into a long-lasting successful business.
It only takes one step forward to begin your goals.
