Her beginnings were her with her husband Ike Turner, with whom she had some hits.

She was on the single “A Fool in Love” in 1960 as one of two members of the band Ike & Tina Turner.

However, when it became known that she suffered gender violence at his hands, her career skyrocketed after her divorce.

As a solo artist, her 1984 album Private Dancer, produced by Mark Knopfler, launched her back to stardom.

She became a star, globally acclaimed.

Tina is not only known for her energy on stage, but also for her powerful singing voice and her long history in the music industry. She was also the teacher who taught Mick Jagger himself to dance. She has sold more than two hundred million albums worldwide. In an interview with People magazine in 1981, she spoke about Ike’s mistreatment of her, at a time when it was not common to talk about domestic violence.

She expanded her career into film in 1975 by acting in Ken Russell’s Tommy, in 1985 with the film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and again in 1995 with a minor role in Last Action Hero.

In February 1985, she embarked on her first world tour as a solo singer, the Private Dancer Tour, with which she visited the main cities of countries in North America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

Turned into one of the main icons of rock, famous for her energetic voice and no less for her powerful and shapely legs, she dedicated most of the nineties to making innumerable and successful tours around the world, managing to raise large amounts of money. of millions of dollars.

In April 1996 she released the album Wildest Dreams which was recorded in the UK under the production of Trevor Horn and included a duet with Antonio Banderas on the main theme. In that same year, she held a special concert on the occasion of the birthday of the princess of Brunei; and she was joined by famed crossover violinist Vanessa-Mae who opened the event, later giving way to Tina, the concert was recorded and released as a limited edition on laserdisc, CD and VHS.

In 2000, Turner, at the age of sixty-one, decided to retire from the stage. In 2004, she released a new compilation album titled All the Best, which contained, among others, the single “Open Arms”. This song was very successful in Europe but not in the United States, although All the Best was her first album in eleven years to achieve a “platinum record” in her country.

In February 2008, she reappeared at a Grammy Awards gala offering an energetic live duet with Beyoncé. At the gala, Hancock’s album won the most precious award, the Grammy for Best Album of the Year. With which she receives the eighth Grammy from her.

In 2008 she left her “Semi-Retirement” retirement to tour the world with her Tina!: 50th Anniversary Tour, which also took place in 2009. The tour became one of the most profitable in history. of the Show.

The tour ended on May 5, 2009, without ruling out new dates in America and Europe. On September 29, 2009, a CD + DVD titled Tina Live was released, which included fifteen songs recorded live on tour and the complete concert in DVD format.

Since 2013, she has retired from music and acting after fifty-four years of artistic career. In addition, she renounced her US citizenship to become a Swiss citizen. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist and she accepted her award via satellite from her home near Zurich, Switzerland.

On May 24, 2023, she passed away at her home in Küsnacht, Switzerland, at the age of 83, after suffering from various illnesses for several years.
