Walk the Talk Show with Waylon Lewis presents:
Mindful Mondays, with Waylon Lewis.
This week, Waylon talks about what it’s like to run for city council—or, to some extent, any public office.
We need people to step up and make their voices heard in community politics, but so often folks don’t know where to even start and what to expect once they do. This Mindful Monday video is a window into the experience Waylon has had so far in his campaign.
According to Waylon, 85% of the process is fun and fulfilling. You’re meeting with incredible people and getting to know and love your town that you care about and already love (or you wouldn’t be running!).
10% of the process is exhausting.
And the final 5%? It’s scary and it’s hard.
But overall?
“If you want to run for a local office, just know there’s nothing in it for you. It’s all about service. It’s all about caring. And I think, in a nice way, that’s what makes it pure. That’s what keeps it simple.” ~ Waylon Lewis
Waylon wrote about this process as well: What it’s been like preparing to run for Boulder City Council. ~ Waylon
