I nearly bought a Tesla a few years back. Why? I like biking, but a car is good for a few things. And EVs are good, or at least better, at not destroying our liveable planet and polluting our air (I have solar on my house, which helps).
Today, I’m glad I never got it. I just bought an Ioniq, instead, or rather leased it for a couple hundred a month. I still mostly bike, and if our America had protected bike lanes and good busses or trains like most together nations, I’d be even happier.
Anyways, many folks have been debating about some version of: “Everyone is just supposed to mass sell off their Teslas except no one is buying them so let’s just dump them?”
My answer is multifaceted, but simple. It’s below. Plus a link to a magnet I like for regretful Tesla owners out there. ~ ed.
“I bought my Tesla 6 years ago. It was the most “Made in America” car that I could buy. It was also more environmental, etc. It was the future. 10% of Boulder probably owns a Tesla.” ~ a comment
What to do if you own a Tesla.
1. If you made a decision to buy a Tesla for good reasons, back in the day, good on you.
2. If you can unload it for a non-fascism-supporting car, now, good on you.
3. If you can’t, put a bumper sticker on it or something…because, yeah, Tesla is synonymous with Elon, and Elon is doing hurtful things. A bumper sticker or magnet could help fix or resolve all that.
4. If you are buying a new car, don’t support Elon.
It’s not that complicated.
