For the last two and half years I have been fortunate enough to get to work for and train with some of the best in the people business.
My personal and professional interests result in my being exposed to a massive amount of content. And not just average philosophical, mediocre life quotes kind of fluff. It’s the kind of wisdom that takes days to process, tears to understand and acceptance to adopt.
However, while the medium may change, the platform may look different, the delivery vessel new and unique, the central message is the same: Everything you need to reach your highest potential already exists inside you; your only job, perhaps your only purpose in life, is to unlock it.
You’ve heard this before, I guarantee it. It’s not a new message. However, neither are your creative reasons for not accepting and applying it to your life.
Excuses: You’re making them.
That the reason why the concept is not true for you—the limitations your “real” life places on your growth and expansion, a list of the things you don’t have that others do.
Let me just remind you then, that the only things that are true are the things you declare to be so.
Nothing is something until you say it is.
If you believe there are boundaries on your possibilities, you fail to advance any further. If you see no other way to live but how you are now, then you have decided your life is done.
Really. We are either growing or we are dying, there is no in between.
We are told to “dress for the job you want.” Well, how about your brain? What’s it wearing? Is it filled with positive thoughts and images of the future you imagine or is it bogged down and clouded with fear and judgment?
When you surround yourself with the people and things you want to bring into your life, your brain starts creating patterns. It begins to look for more items that match, to ignore those that don’t, and you begin to send out an energy or vibration that attracts what you want.
On the contrary, when you fill up your headspace with negative images, thought patterns, and ideas, whether it’s television, the media or simply the environment which you continually choose to place yourself, the reverse becomes true.
The brain can’t tell the difference between a real or imagined experience, on a physiological level anyway. Emotion, or energy-in-motion, is the expression of our experience; it’s how we show how we are reacting to life.
If you keep training your body and mind to respond by placing the sympathetic nervous system on high alert, and to seek and retain information that is contradictory to what you want, you will continue to tell the universe: keep bringing this to me, this is what I want.
The take-away practice I’m suggesting here is to choose your sphere of influence very carefully.
What you put in is what you put out:
“If you put garbage in then garbage is what you’ll produce.” ~ Dr. Charles Ward
Think about what you are watching, reading, talking about and doing every day. Decide if it aligns with your highest purpose and what you are trying to attract, or not.
How you feed your future is up to you. What are you going to consume today?
