A Kiss is a Kiss.

love, rainbow, equality

My skin erupts in goosebumps

When her lips
Touch my cheek this morning, her daily parting gift.

She’s wrapped in blankets, cocooned in the warmth I left.

Each day this routine of work and separation.

Same as thy neighbor.
I shut the front door and wave to them,
All the while her touch lingers.

Do you see how bright the sun is shining today?, He says.

I think of how warm it will be,
And how it would feel, to feel for a moment,
That we aren’t less.

That I wave the same wave,
And experience the same rippled ecstasy from my partner’s touch.

A kiss is a kiss.
And love is love and these are things I’ve known.
Things I feel.

My skin erupts in goosebumps when the text arrives.

Friday, June 26th 2015: We are all equal.
It’s violent erupting.  Starting in my hairline and surging its way
Into my toes.

I did not know the sun could be so bright today.
I’d never seen a rainbow unless it stormed.
I did not know my body could react to anything other than her, so fiercely.

I’ll never shake these goosebumps from my bones.

They’re resting on my skin along with the permanence of her lips,
And the permanence of her presence,
And the permanence, the power, the elation of acceptance.

A kiss is a kiss.
And love is love, and these are things I’ve known.

What’s new,
Is the place where goosebumps grow to power.
Is in being more, and being equivalent.

Monday morning when I wave, I’ll know how bright the sun is shining,
Before anyone ever asks me.
