Statistics has proved that the number of people suffering from depression, stress, loneliness has increased in recent times. Thanks to a fast paced life, increase in demand for material things and in a bid to outdo everyone else, people are suffering from so called EPIDEMIC which is plaguing modern society called STRESS….

 

If you find yourself being stressed or on the verge of a panic attack anytime, do the following.

Take long deep breaths. Breathe in slowly through your nose and exhale through your mouth.
Be aware of the tightness in your body. This could either be around your tummy area, chest or head.
Inhale and Exhale slowly. Follow your breath
Do this for some time till you feel the tightness reducing

 

The idea is to slow your breathing and thus bring the stress under control. You do the above when you are on the verge of a panic attack. However, what does one do to overcome stress/fear generally?

 

The first and foremost step is to remember that we are NOT the only ones facing the stress. At any given point in time, there are so many people around us who have some kind of fear, uncertainty within themselves for any kind of thing that they want to do. The fact that we are not the only ones going through it helps us understand that it is Normal and there is nothing to fear.
Secondly, find out what is stressing you out ? Is it the fear of failure, the fear of stepping out of your comfort zone? Identify the fear…And then DO IT ANYWAYS. This way, you are facing your fear. The actual act of doing something is much easier than living in the fear of it.
Thirdly, be in the present moment as much as possible. Know that it is very easy to say this, however very difficult to practice. Practice it Anyways. Be Mindful at all times by giving your full attention to what you do.
Fourthly, write down all that you feel and think . This will help you lighten your mind and take the heaviness away.
Spend time in some creative activity that you love. This could be singing, dancing, reading, playing some sport and so on
Playing with little kids has proved to be therapeutic to a lot of people.
Last but not the least , learn to Accept yourself .
