We are given this gift of free-will and a life-time of opportunity. What does the bible say we should do?
For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become slaves to one another. For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” – Galatians 5:13-14
Become slaves to each other in love. Serving one another as our main goal. Should we sacrifice ourselves for others? The bible says “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” How do we love ourselves? Do we love ourselves first or others? Do we treat ourselves as good as we treat others? Or the opposite.
I would suggest that it is a learning process in that we learn to love deeper and deeper through loving ourselves, loving others, failing daily and then trying again. What an opportunity we have!
I conceive of God, in fact, as a means of liberation and not a means to control others. – James Baldwin
