One of the biggest things I kind of absolutely loathes about myself is my skin. Days can be made good or bad completely depending on the way my skin is reacting that day, a big breakout can completely ruin my whole attitude for the day. Not very empowering. Getting a hold on this has been a big thing for me as I move towards my 30s. I want to be a strong, confident, woman and I know good skincare is going to be a huge part of this.
With that in mind, I have been doing some major research into what can help make the skin that much better. Rejuvenation is the aim of the game and so there are a few things you will need to achieve this:
1 – Water
No, it’s not necessarily drinking water I’m talking about here. The water you wash your face with can actually have a big effect on your skin, especially as some types of water (i.e. ‘soft’ water) struggles to remove the soap residue from your skin properly. Make sure you buy the right scrub to suit the water in your area.
Hydration can also help with your energy levels, removing toxins from your system and just healthier living in general.
2 – Address Stress
Stressful situations – whether at work or home – can be one of the worst situations for your skin to experience as it cause breakouts quite easily due to hormone imbalances. Cut out those stressful moments in life which are getting you down and you may find that you have a lot fewer breakouts than previously.
3 – Green Tea
Drinking green tea isn’t a be-all and end-all fix, but it is something that can help with your long-term skin health. The polyphenols in green tea are catechins – these are antioxidants by nature and therefore great for your skin.
4 – Vitamin D
Natural sunshine helps to boost your skin rejuvenation and the reason for this is the vitamin D found in this sun. Skin rejuvenation is more important than ever if you are prone to bad skin and breakouts, as getting rid of the red marks and scars isn’t easy otherwise. As such, it is important that during periods of the low sun (which is quite often in the UK) it is important to help boost these levels with appropriate health supplements. It may seem unnecessary or something that people only on health kicks would do, but supplements can actually be very beneficial additions to your skincare routine.
5 – Sleep
It may or may not surprise you to find that a good night’s sleep can actually have a big impact on the health of your skin. Sleep, overall, is probably one of the biggest benefits for your health in the long term. So, get off your phone and sleep more – it’s good for you!
Between seven to eight hours of sleep, a night can actually be the best addition to your skincare routine, according to some experts. So, don’t be afraid to have early nights here and there!
