Let Go and Live
Pining away at losing her husband,
She paused and looked back,
Vivid memories of her carefree childhood
Came gushing back like a stream.
Dreams shattered; vision, a blur,
She stood still, shivering with cold,
Steaming hot tea shook her up
Unto reformation of old and new alike.
The village lass took the last recourse;
A self-help group for women, she signed up,
Taught to be self-reliant, financially independent,
She got woven into the fabric of the system.
She had been wronged, she learned,
This fulfilled her want, to prove herself,
Realization dawned, identity created,
She fought for her cause, women’s rights.
Approval came from all quarters,
No longer did she feel unimportant,
She was the manager of her own life,
All lived but once, she lived twice.
