So apparently my first car in 11 years is ready for pickup.
I’m not sure I need a car. But I would like to be able to drive to mountains for camping/hot springs/Shambhala Mountain/road trips and snowshoeing with Red, my half-hound all-trouble mutt.
Car-sharing locally isn’t built for overnights or road trips. Renting a car from a corporation takes time. Biking has worked for 11 years, and saved me money and given me free exercise, community and sunshine, but has constrained my ability to visit our beautiful mountains (though buses run every day, and I fail to take advantage).
Is a car, even a game-changing electric, ever “eco-responsible”? In the face of overwhelming climate change, do well-chosen offsets help?
