One day, you’ll remember the woman who loved you so much that she forgot to love herself. You’ll remember her when you wake up, when you are sitting in traffic, and when you’re about to fall asleep. There in the silence and stillness she will be your greatest nightmare, and you’re best day dream.
One day, all the demeaning, hateful words you once spoke to and of her, will whisper in your ear, and she will be dancing beautifully to her own rhythm.
One day, you will fall to your knees & yield at the thought of losing her; the woman who gave every part of who she was, for you. When this time comes, you will see all the things you intentionally said and did to hurt and destroy her, built, shaped, and prepared her, for life after you.
One day all the time she spent feeling like she was losing, you will spend realizing it was you that lost her. You lost her, not because she wasn’t enough for you, but because of your ego, your selfishness, & your own self entitlement. You coward. You lost the girl, who willingly lost herself, trying to save you.
She fought, and battled through hearing your harsh words, the metal and emotional abuse, the toxicity, & thinking, “one day, he’ll change”. But you, you never changed, and she, she stayed by your side, living dead inside.
You never saw her, you never acknowledged her, or appreciated her. You belittled and betrayed the very woman you promised to cherish and love. This same woman, you chose to let go, because you were too full of your own pride. One day, you’ll realize the girl you intentionally screwed up, and left for another girl, was the girl who kept fighting, to defend you, and rescue you.
One day, you’ll see her happy, and content in the life she built from the shambles you left her buried beneath.
One day, when you see her, you won’t recognize the woman she is now, and that feeling deep in the pit of your stomach is the regret you’ll be forced to live with; for giving up on her, when she never wanted to give up on you.
On this day she will thank you for letting her go, for ripping away, and destroying everything she was, because who you made her, is everything she fought not to become.
One day, you will see, you didn’t leave her. You, each time you watched her weep, cry, and beg for you to love and want her, made her stronger. One day, you will see, that all the misery, heartaches, and pain you suffocated her with, gave her strength. The strength to find her voice, and freedom.
One day, you will see her living freely from the prison inside her own mind that you left behind, and you, you will be shackled by your own misery and unhappiness, burdened by the thoughts in your mind, and weighed with the words you can take back.
One day, your cold and fridged heart will feel all the love and warmth she gave to you, and when that day comes, she will only be a memory.
