I Am Boleyn explores the nuances of honesty in relationships in her new single “Limit of Love”. The dreamy synth-pop track has been washing waves of insight across the UK, New York and Los Angeles. With such an incredibly unique sound, you might be wondering who influenced such talent?
I Am Boleyn inspires us to consider our closest relationships in “Just Friends” and “Too Much”. The blissful and nostalgic tunes remind us of some of our favorite queens of synth.
We were lucky enough to sit down with the rising star to hear about her musical influences.
“Her melodies and lyrics are timeless”, I Am Boleyn coos as she recalls Joni Mitchell:
It’s no surprise that fearless Florence + The Machine makes an appearance on I Am Boleyn’s list of revered talent: “She is absolutely fearless in her themes and performances”. I Am Boleyn recently dazzled at The Peppermint in Los Angeles, where her stunning silver suit invokes Florence at her finest.
Who can resist Imogen Heap’s “Hide & Seek”? I Am Boleyn says: “This was such a hit and played with vocals and harmonies in a way that normal pop songs don’t. A lesson in being creative.”
Perhaps the closest comparison, I Am Boleyn cites Lana Del Rey’s Video Games as an important piece. She says: “What an incredible debut this was, fresh and new but also wise. The video is also one of my favorites ever”.
And finally: Robyn. “Dancing on my own”. We see the resemblance, too!
I Am Boleyn’s singles are all available on Spotify now.
