What was once just a sunburnt country
Now we watch it burn up in flames
Our emergency services are beyond exhausted
And we still look for someone to pin the blame.
Day after day we inhale the smoke
The image of clear blue skies and green pastures just a blur
This has become the norm in our sunburnt country
The wind blowing the remains of the wildlife and towns that once were.
Each day the threat becomes more real
As the beast of fire spreads far and wide
But even though we feel our efforts might be helpless
Us hopeful Aussies will still band together side by side.
