Don’t focus on the dirt, focus on the flowers

“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” Helen Keller

When our focus is on the losses we will find more loss. When we focus on our gains, we will find more gain. The same can be said about gratitude, joy, happiness, and love. Right now the list of losses is multiplying. Stability, routine, comfort, restaurants and bars closing, ability to travel, ability to work, go to school, etc. What about the things the changes are gifting?

Think back one month. What were the things you wish you had time to cultivate? What goals did you want to work on? Did you wish you had more time with your family or children? Did you wish you could write more? Read more? Focus on your health and self care? Gratitude costs nothing. Switch your focus from all the things you have lost and focus on all things you can gain!

Being fearful of the unknown is a natural human reaction. But focusing and allowing ourselves to be consumed by it is a dangerous path. We have the power to re-wire the thought process and focus of our conscious and subconscious mind. Shut down the triggers that pull you into the rabbit hole of fear anxiety and sadness. Focus on the blessings and gifts you are being given. Don’t focus on the dirt, focus on the beauty of the flowers growing before your eyes!
