The Problem With Foreign Language Learning Today

Despite the great improvements in technology, in obtaining instant information, access to software, the internet speed, and whatever. Despite all of these improvements, language learning ability has in fact fallen. Furthermore using the analogy of music- the music of today is pure gimmick, mostly plastic rubbish, aimed at gaining attention through outrageous video..

Ok maybe I’m being a bit harsh. Sure there are some good singers around today.
Some very good singers. But no great singers. It’s the great singers, the outstanding singers that touch you emotionally.

It is exactly the same with language courses.

Most are just advertising hype. In fact there are some good language teaching methods out today. However I want to draw your attention to  great teaching methods. In my opinion these methods have not been surpassed.

There are an abundance of language companies out there all promising a super short cut for their customers. And the customers believe them The facts however are most of the techniques used do not work in the real world. Since the facts are that so many people fail when studying in the classroom and through self instruction, do you not think there must be something wrong with the methods being used? Do you not think  there must be something wrong with the methods being promoted?

The listen and repeat by rote, dialogue strategy, the drilling of grammar rules the writing and home work methods which most Language Schools and self instruction courses use promote poor conditions for language learning. I am not saying you cannot learn a new language using the methods I have just described. What I am saying is it will take years, and in the majority of cases lead to discouragement and failure.

The Right Conditions For Language Learning

The right conditions are essential if the goal is to learn a new foreign language fast. So the question you need to ask is: What are the right conditions for language learning?
