Summer is right around the corner and providing outside re-opens soon, we’ll be spending a lot of time in the sun. Your skin needs special care year-around, but there are certain actions you must take to protect yourself from the sun, especially.
But never fear, we got you covered with a few tips!
Sunscreen
This may seem like a no brainer, but wear sunscreen! Not only does it protect you from skin cancers, but it helps prevent premature aging. In states like Florida, where people are in the sun all year round, exposure to the sun can be excessive. In fact, Miami and Tampa have ranked in the top five cities that people are most likely to age faster. So, make sure to buy SPF 30 or higher and get UVA and UVB protection. UVA helps prevent sunburn and skin damage, which can lead to premature aging. UVB helps prevent skin cancer.
Buy a Dual-purpose Moisturizer
In the summer months, you want to lighten your skin routine. Moisturizing is still very important, but buying a lightweight moisturizer with SPF 30 eliminates another layer of product, making your skin feel lighter. If you have acne-prone skin, this can prevent clogged pores and keep skin clear.
Add a Vitamin C serum
Vitamin C serum is like the cherry on top, in a skincare routine. This serum will help prevent hyper-pigmentation and reduces the appearance of fine lines. Just add a few drops on your skin between the cleanser and moisturizer.
Exfoliate
Although it is not good to over-exfoliate, it is still an essential part of a skincare regimen. In fact, summer is a good time to get rid of what you don’t need. If you have oily skin, it is beneficial to exfoliate more often. Don’t jump headfirst and incorporate this into a daily routine. Instead, slowly increase the number of days you exfoliate. It is also a good idea to invest in alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) pads because they open clogged pores and feel soothing to stressed-out summer skin.
Stay Hydrated
This is another no brainer, but for those who may not be convinced. Drink plenty of water! You should aim for eight glasses of water each day. This can provide amazing results for your skin. Staying hydrated literally cleanses your body from the inside out, leaving your skin clean and clear. Hydration can also help skin recover after a sunburn.
