Rick Perry: Call me Old Fashioned, But…
“I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a Christian, but you don’t need to be in the pew every Sunday to know there’s something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can’t openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school.
As President, I’ll end Obama’s war on religion. And I’ll fight against liberal attacks on our religious heritage.
Faith made America strong.
It can make her strong again.
I’m Rick Perry and I approve this message.”
Wow:
Actually…needless to say…religious heritage didn’t “make America strong”…tolerance for religious freedom, our right to worship as we see fit was a fundamental inspiration for our founding fathers.
That said…needless to say…playing to the Christian conservative base when your leading opponents are Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich? Smart, if cynical.
One of many awesome Reddit comments, where they’re actively defending his right to speak such…blather:
“I feel like if I swapped the word christian and Muslim I’d be living in Iran.”
