I woke up to the same bed, to the same world, under the same roof then why it was difficult to get out of the bed that day. I was content with my life. But I wanted more- not necessarily in the material sense of personal wealth and property. I craved for more out of life. I wanted passion, I wanted to risk my safe life and search for the zest that made me spring out of bed every morning. I wanted to get the “what if” phrase out of my mind and get out of the comfortable life that has been planned out for me already by my parents.
But that morning when I woke up I was lost; I had no energy to fight against the social norms, I had no energy to face the world, no energy to show the world how strong I pretend to be. I was empty. My life seemed completely predictable – I knew what was going to happen next, every move, every moment. The stagnancy of my life was making me sick. It was killing my spirits. I was no longer myself. I lost the “me” I was. I had to get back to being me once again. I couldn’t live separate from me anymore. And then the question arises “WHY”; why was I lost?
WHY WE GET LOST?
One fine day you suddenly wake up and realize you don’t even know who you are. You feel void. You don’t even like yourself. You hate the person that you are becoming. You want your real self back, but who is that anyway? Where is that person lost?
We get lost because we get bored and confused of life.
The present circumstances are no longer fulfilling us.
When you feel lost, you have lost the purpose.
You start being a different personality, imitating another person thinking that person to have a cool and appealing life than yours.
What it does mean is that if you feel lost, just take a deep breath and realize that being lost can be turning point of finding out who you truly are and what you truly want to do.
HOW DO WE FIND PURPOSE?
- Do something, anything. Do anything that is the opposite of what you are doing now. Because it’s the mundane things that takes out life out of us at times.
Become a beginner again. Try something new.
Observe your behaviour. If it doesn’t sound how you want it sound then work on it.
Meditate. Meditation is the best medicine to find oneself.
This one is a personal one, grow a garden. Nurture it, invest in it. Life will be fulfilling again. Trust me.
Listen to yourself regardless of what others say. All that matters is your encouragement, not other’s discouragement.
Discover yourself.
“Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves”- Henry David Thoreau.
