Despite playing down the severity of the virus, Trump and Melania tested positive early Friday morning for COVID-19.

I want to say it’s ironic—but that would almost be an understatement.

Trump spent the last few months downplaying the coronavirus, refusing to wear a mask in public, mocking Joe Biden for wearing one, encouraging schools to reopen, sports games to continue on, and he even claimed the “end of the pandemic is in sight.”

Now, he sits isolated in the White House with his First Lady, and right amidst the reelection campaign.

Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!

What does this mean for the 2020 election?

And what does this say about a man who denied the seriousness of a virus that was killing thousands of Americans daily?
