Where we’re at: we caution one another that it’s impossible to view a Republican who supports killing babies…or a Democrat who would support a racist/sexist/serial sexual assaulter…as a decent human being. We see dialogue as appeasement of immorality.

40% of the country, I read something like that, now views those of the other party as evil, not just neighbors or citizens with differing views.

If there’s one thing we agree on: vote. Vote. Vote.

If there’s two things we agree on, try this on for size: continuing down this path of hate and lies isn’t for America, or good for you, or good for me. We need to come closer together, around listening, around learning, around forgiveness, around decency—not journey further apart. We can do so without forgetting the hate we’ve seen—but we must agree to say, “after hate, then what?”
