How I Rearranged Everything you Meant to Me. {Poem}

And I got your scent
To make it mine
To be able to forget you

I’ve written with men who bear your name
So that at some point
It no longer hurts
Whenever I read it

And the city you live in
And I once called my home
I tried to create new memories in the streets
So I don’t look for your face
Everywhere I go

The words you said—
I twist them in my mouth like candy
Until I’ve forgotten them
Their order
So that they no longer make sense
And I can no longer put them together
So that at some point
I can hear them from someone else again
Without thinking about you

And I wish I could erase you
From my memory
From my ideas
As if I never met you
Like you never broke my heart
