Let me cut to the chase: “Good Will Hunting” will always remain an iconic movie with the best script that has ever been written.

Way before having love coaches, we had Sean. Way before figuring out our own attachment and abandonment issues, we had Will. And at a time when we thought we were to blame, the scene “it’s not your fault” shattered all our misconceptions.

Every time I watch the scene when Sean (Robin Williams) tells Will (Matt Damon) his story when his wife passed away and how he loved her imperfections, I cry my eyes out.

Yesterday, I watched that movie (again), and damn, it will never get old. Because we know every single emotion all too well. We all have intimacy issues; we’ve all dealt with grief and loss; we all bottle up our emotions; we all have imperfect relationships.

You don’t have to watch “Good Will Hunting” if you haven’t yet. But you sure as hell need to know these quotes:

“You’re not perfect, sport, and let me save you the suspense: this girl you’ve met, she’s not perfect either. But the question is whether or not you’re perfect for each other.”

“You don’t know about real loss, because it only occurs when you’ve loved something more than you love yourself. And I doubt you’ve ever dared to love anybody that much.”

“You’ll have bad times, but it’ll always wake you up to the good stuff you weren’t paying attention to.”

“You’ll never have that kind of relationship in a world where you’re afraid to take the first step because all you see is every negative thing 10 miles down the road.”

“He pushes people away before they get a chance to leave him. It’s a defense mechanism. And for 20 years he’s been alone because of that. And if you push him right now, it’s gonna be the same thing all over again and I’m not gonna let that happen to him.”

“Maybe you’re perfect right now. Maybe you don’t wanna ruin that. I think that’s a super philosophy, Will; that way you can go through your entire life without ever having to really know anybody.”

“She’s been dead two years and that’s the sh*t I remember. Wonderful stuff, you know, little things like that. Ah, but, those are the things I miss the most. The little idiosyncrasies that only I knew about.”

“No, I’m not kiddin’ you, Will. That’s why I’m not talkin’ right now about some girl I saw at a bar 20 years ago and how I always regretted not going over and talking to her. I don’t regret the 18 years I was married to Nancy. I don’t regret the six years I had to give up counseling when she got sick. And I don’t regret the last years when she got really sick. And I sure as hell don’t regret missin’ the damn game. That’s regret.”

(Matt Damon) “I can’t f*ckin’ believe you had tickets to that f*ckin’ game.”
(Robin Williams) “Yeah.”
(Matt Damon) “Did you rush the field?”
(Robin Williams) “No, I didn’t rush the f*ckin’ field; I wasn’t there.”
(Matt Damon) “What?”
(Robin Williams) “No; I was in a bar havin’ a drink with my future wife.”
(Matt Damon) “You missed Pudge Fisk’s home run?”
(Robin Williams) “Oh, yeah.”
(Matt Damon) “To have a f*ckin’ drink with some lady you never met?”
(Robin Williams) “Yeah, but you shoulda seen her; she was a stunner.”

“Look at me, son. It’s not your fault.”
