“You only get to play if we can see your ass.”
The International Handball Federation requires women to wear bikini bottoms “with a close fit and cut on an upward angle toward the top of the leg.” The sides of the bikini bottoms must be no more than 4 inches. Men, on the other hand, can wear shorts as long as 4 inches above their knees as long as they are “not too baggy.”
The double standard:
I’ve seen tacky violating sexed-up photos of volleyball (and, I guess, handball) players for years—all women.
Why all women? Because they’re jumping around in bikinis. Now, of course, women have a right to wear anything they want…or, so I thought.
This week, the Norwegian Handball women’s team revolted, refusing to wear skimpy bikinis. They’re still wearing sports bras, basically, showing 90% more skin than the men’s team, who all wear tanks and shorts. Pretty long shorts, at that.

They were fined more than $1700 as individuals, for doing so—$150 euros each. The team’s not paying for them.
