So karma means action
& usually, you take actions out of a desire to get a favorable outcome.
U have this desire because you think it would make you feel pleasant or peaceful
& so you are attached with your expectation of the outcome from your action
This attachment causes inward stress & snatches away our peace
Like people who watch sports & are wanting their team to win appear so stressed that they get excited, nervous, angry & frustrated after every ball/ goal / etc.
Their watching of sports is also an action & because there is an attachment with the expectation of the outcome of that match, they aren’t at peace, they are restless.
Peace is experienced when we are restful & for this, what is required is detachment from the expectations about the consequences of our action.
It is fine to have an expectation because it simply means that we are hoping for the better but the moment we are attached, it becomes desperation & obsession which takes away our peace.
What matters most for us is to feel peaceful within & for this, we need to take action but in a state of inward relaxation which would only happen when we are not attached to the consequences of it & are open for all possibilities emerging from it.
Remember, we can at best make an effort to do something, but what happens as a result of it is not completely dependent on our efforts, it depends on so many other things,
& thus don’t take the credit for the success or failure of anything, just learn from everything & keep doing whatever you can to the best of your capability.
U can also do so by reminding yourself that “I am not the doer, it’s happening through me.”
This statement doesn’t mean you become irresponsible, it simply means that you become sensible & accept that not everything is in your control.
This way,
U will feel relaxed while you’re taking any action & even while you are not
So there will be action in relaxation
making you a karma yogi!
