We’re a rare breed, you and I. {Poem}

We’re a rare breed, you and I.

We give presence like it’s all we know

We cherish phone calls from lovers like one’s soul written on paper

We seek to connect deeply

Like rivers who find oceans

We dream of a world where

The things we touch are made from intention

The food we taste are made with loving hands and untouched soil

The smells we inhale remind us of where we come from

We look around at nature to fall in love with this gift to experience all of what is

We know we’ve been here before

Only this time

This life

We’re here to make wake in the sea

So we can be we

As we lay here, looking up at the swaying bamboo

I turn and say,

“Hey thanks for being human with me. We’re a rare breed, you and I.”
