World Mental Health Day: Mental Health Awareness for me is Every Day.

World suicide prevention day was in September. World mental health day is in October.

For me, mental health awareness is every day.

I am a girl here trying to show you a human, not a mask, or one side of my story. I am trying to share with you the multifaceted human that I am—which we all are.

My book Brave, Beautiful & Baring it All, talks about my journey of fitness from the inside out, my battle with depression, and suicide. These black and white shares are many different forms of me, but all me.

What does a human who is suffering look like? Like every single one of us!

On social media we share so little of our journey and often see only one side of each person and their lives. But even though we don’t see things, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t occurring. We are all so blinded by the externals that we don’t see the hurting hearts and struggling souls behind these posts. We don’t see the anxiety attacks, fights, suicide attempts, challenges, abuse, depression, and the pain and suffering we cause by our hateful words said here and in life. We miss so much that changes lives.

I hope today you’ll close your eyes and see with your heart.

Reach out to those you love, and tell them you love them.

Be a little kinder here online to those you want to judge.

Just because they look happy, are they?

If they have a body you do or don’t admire, is it okay to focus on that or be unkind?

When a person looks together, does it mean they don’t have insecurities or challenges?

Because you’re inspired by someone, do you think they haven’t been told they aren’t worthy, or not good enough?

Just because they are naked, does it make them a bad person, self-confident, or extroverted?

If they look like they have the perfect family, relationship, or wealth, do they?

Just because you view the world this way, does it mean that it’s the only way?

We don’t see the wounds that never show on the body, those that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds or visibly breaks.

So many people see the world in black and white instead of vibrant colors.

Too many hide their scars with “I’m fine.”

So let’s show people our love.
