When I face writer’s block, I go check the position of the moon.

Why the moon? In astrology, the moon represents your inner world, your intuition, your emotional world, your heart. This is where good writing comes from.

What does the position of the moon mean? When we look at the moon from Earth at any given moment, there is a constellation of stars right behind it. This constellation represents the zodiac sign where the moon is.

The moon stays between two to three days in each sign. Throughout each month, the moon goes through all the zodiac signs. Synchronizing your creative work with the position of the moon can bring a healthy rhythm to your creative work. It allows you to use the cosmic mindset in a beneficial way so that it serves your ability to serve others.

When the moon is in Aries, it is time to start a new project, poem, blog, or book. It is time to light a candle and let the ideas flow out of you. It’s time to write all the new titles you can think of. It is also a great time to publish a new work, maybe in a new place. It is a time for new beginnings. If you are still blocked, move your energy, move your body. It will make everything flow for you right away.

When the moon is in Taurus, go outside and let your senses lead you. Get inspired by the smells, tastes, sights, and sounds. It is time to stick to your routine and work slowly. It is also a good time to solidify the ideas you’ve had while the moon was in Aries or bring more aesthetics and harmony into previously written drafts.

When the moon is in Gemini, it is a great time to write! Geminis are natural writers. Use this Gemini power to write as much as you can. Interview people, communicate your ideas with others, publish your work. Write. Talk. Write. Talk. Just be careful not to get too distracted. Better turn off your social media communication, otherwise, it might consume your energy during these days.

When the moon is in Cancer, it feels at home. Even those who are usually disconnected from emotions can feel more emotional during these days. Connect with your heart. Allow yourself to feel— not through your head, but through your body. What is the physical manifestation of your feelings? Write about it. Write about your pains and your joys. Allow things to flow right from your heart. Use your intuition.

When the moon is in Leo, it is a wonderful time to be creative. Allow yourself to think big, dream big, be dramatic, be a leader. Write with your blood, with your lusts, with your longings, with your passion. Dance with your words, make love to them. Add more colors, be playful. It is time to have fun with your writing!

When the moon is in Virgo, it is a good time to edit your work. Virgos are amazing at organizing, cleaning, and creating sacred spaces. If you have unpaid bills piling up at your desk, take care of them during these days. To be creative, you need to clear the burden of overdue commitments. Just remember, Virgo has a strong tendency to self-criticize. Use Virgo’s analytical skills but don’t criticize yourself too harshly.

When the moon is in Libra, be an artist. Bring beauty, colors, and lightness into your writing. It’s a good time to write about relationships. This is the main theme of Libra. You can also cooperate with others. Share your work with your loved ones or colleagues to get their honest opinion. Work with them to bring more harmony into your work.

When the moon is in Scorpio, things get intense. You want to go through what you wrote on these jolly Gemini, Leo, Libra days, and add some depth to it. It is time to write about your dark side, your hardships, and how you evolved thanks to them. Add a transformational quality to your words; you want to transform your readers through them. It’s a great time to write about anything mystical, dark, or taboo. Walk on the edge.

When the moon is in Sagittarius, write about your worldview and perception. Write about spirituality and how it changed your life. Write about religion and faith. Write about your encounter with other cultures. Write from your life experience. Write from the perspective of the soaring eagle. Look at the big picture, see things from above. Be honest but be careful not to be too blunt. These are great days to connect with your optimism and inner guide. Trust.

When the moon is in Capricorn, use its energy of determination, ambition, and discipline. Sit down and don’t get up until you finish what you wanted to accomplish for the day. You can do whatever you want, as long as you make a plan and work deliberately. Most importantly, write out of a desire to be of service to others. This is the highest purpose of Capricorn.

When the moon is in Aquarius, you might feel a little detached. It is a good time to look at things from the outside, like an alien visiting Earth, trying to understand why people behave the way they do. Be scientific, advanced, and futuristic. Write about communities and humanitarian issues. Write for the benefit of your community. Allow yourself to rebel against everything that limits freedom and prevents justice. It will be easy to be original. Just make sure you stay close to your heart.

When the moon is in Pisces, your creativity is on the rise. Pisces is the poet, the mystic, the compassionate soul. It is time to connect with spirit. Ask for guidance. What do you need to write to help all sentient beings? Write from your soul. Allow things to flow through you, become a channel. On these days you can also meditate, find peace and quiet, or space out. Sit by a lake or any source of water. Forget about your left brain, connect with your right brain. It will do miracles and give you many ideas to write about when the moon moves back to Aries.

Working with the position of the moon will not only help your creativity and writing, but it will also help you be more synchronized with the natural cycles of this amazing universe. I hope you find it valuable.

In my bio, you can find a link to an astrology calendar that presents the position of the moon on a daily basis.
