History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it. ~ Winston Churchill.
With our culture on the verge of one of the greatest collective sighs of relief ever heard in this little corner of the Milky Way…stretching far and wide through the villages and manors of the world’s inhabitants, might I dare taint the anticipation of this exalted exhalation by tipping my hat toward the past for one brief moment, from a small but not insignificant little fact called…
…history.
We learn from history that we learn nothing from history. ~George Bernard Shaw:
What if the impossible becomes the real? What if we have another Florida in 2000? Or perhaps Ohio in 2004?
What if the election is already counted deep within the black boxes of a big business-controlled paperless voting machine or in the intimidation tactics and purging of our voters from their country’s given right and honor?
Without intending to stir the pot of conspiracy, paranoia and fear, I simply posit a simple question that has seen the light of day twice in the last 10 years.
And then? Well that’s my next question, would it serve our democracy if the collective will (you and you and you and me) of the American People is left dangling by the side of the road and we, each and every one of us took no ownership of its passing?
Should we be preparing in any way, shape or form (collective strike, organized and effective protest?) for a not less than zero chance that the reason Mr. McCain was able to be so extraordinarily careless and cavalier in his choice of V.P. is that he knows something that we don’t know?
