10 Truths About Resilience

10 Truths About Resilience

  1. Resilience is not about overcoming, but becoming.
  2. There is no such thing as closure after a loss. Instead there is disclosure.
  3. In every suffering there is a message.
  4. If you don’t enter the chaos, you will never exit it.
  5. Resilience is not being impermeable but rather is the ability to receive—pain as well as love and kindness from others.
  6. Some pain cannot be carried alone. Let others help you.
  7. Trauma creates the need for you to recreate yourself.
  8. In every trauma there is a shattering and an opportunity for rebirth.
  9. The seed has to turn to nothing to become something.
  10. You don’t have resilience. You build it.

From the book, “The Road to Resilience,” by Sherri Mandell.
