Moon in Gemini, Sun in Sagittarius
It’s a Full Moon where we get to talk about Sag and Gemini…two best friends, both funny and both fascinating. Their timing is curious because right now – funny is an unlikely conversation. We just passed Scorpio, where the world became so sad and desperate. You name it: wars, climate crisis, earthquakes that destroyed, children dying, hospitals bombed – a part of my beloved Hawaiian island continues to suffer. Need I say more? During Scorpio, we were hit with the darkest of the dark.
I have always found it so interesting that in Astrology, the sign next up after Scorpio’s deep emotional season is Sagittarius. With Sag, we get the funny bone. And now, with this Full Moon, Gemini is piping in – the irreverent kid.
This Gemini Full Moon specializes in humor as medicine. This is the essence of Sag/Gemini energy: trying to inspire us to laugh in the face of pain. In fact, this is the wisdom that so many Sagittarians demonstrate. They are the greatest teachers – teaching us how to let go. But you have to lighten up first.
Which of you gets to laugh easily? Who thinks the silliest things are funny? Gemini and Sag. Lucky are the ones who can laugh to keep from crying. Or cry so hard they start laughing. It’s an energetic access that few carry, but what a difference it makes – if you can cultivate that idea. To laugh to keep from crying: that’s deep.
Think Robin Williams, Sarah Silverman (a Sag), Joan Rivers (who had this exact combo but reversed), George Carlin (North Node in Sag) – all the comedians that make you laugh. Their gift was to turn on your Observer and tickle you in order to stand apart and smile.
So many spiritual teachers know how to let go, to release. Personally, as a Gemini with Sag in my chart – I have found humor as the only medicine that can instantly shift my energy.
There are times when I am teaching, and I will use my favorite joke to make people smile: Mickey goes to the lawyer to start divorce proceedings from Minnie. The lawyer says, “You can’t divorce Minnie for being crazy.” Mickey says, “I didn’t say she’s crazy, I said she’s fucking Goofy.”
And the group laughs. Energy is released.
During this Full Moon, I encourage seeking humor for relief. We are living in such crazy times. And/or let yourself be bold: speak up, say the hard truth in writing, to a friend, in some art. This is why I have a class called Tell Me a Story, where you can find your voice and finally say it out loud!
We have to release energy one way or another. Holding in the pain is not healthy at any level. Laughing hard or screaming, sharing your deepest feelings and your pain is how we stay young and willing to learn the lessons this life has set up for us.
Tell me one of your favorite jokes. Tell me your loud truth that you are too self-conscious to express. Our community here encourages truth and authenticity – give it to me.
Enjoy this Full Moon in Gemini. It is one of the fun energetics we get once a year. Here come the holidays! Oh, how important it is to find joy right about now.
