A Mantra for When We are Gripped by Fear & Unable to Move Forward.

Moving from certainty to uncertainty is scary.

It takes only one second for something to change—and a lifetime to get over it.

This is what life transitions do to us. They keep us stuck in fear, and we might feel unable to move beyond the emotion. No matter how hard we try to remove the fog of anxiety, it just won’t go away.

I’ve been stuck in fear lately. I’m trying to move beyond it, but I can’t. Although I want to be present, I’m constantly finding myself lost in thoughts and irrational worries. In other words, I’m living inside my head and, well, I need to stop.

I need to breathe.

I need to remember that:

My fear is not an obstacle; it’s a transformation.

Whenever I feel gripped by fear, I keep repeating these words. Sometimes I think that my fear will stop me and paralyze me. It will change my life for the worst. It will be chaotic and messy and awful and please don’t let me witness the mess.

But I know I’m wrong. I know that my fear is not the enemy. My fear is showing me that I care, that I am full of emotions, that I need to open my heart to new possibilities.

I need to remember that everything eventually works together, and you need to remember that too.

Our fears do not define us.

They merely help us to cross from a known ground to an unknown one. It won’t be easy, but it will be okay.

Don’t overthink because we will never get the answers.

Don’t drown in worries because eventually we will swim to the surface and see the truth.

For now, feel it all, but don’t let it consume you.

Be patient with yourself. Be gentle with yourself and keep saying:

My fear is not an obstacle; it’s a transformation.
