Mirrors of Manifestation. ~ Candace Magnuson

In the Fire

I stand ablaze in the fire of mothering two toddler boys.

With hardly a moment to call my own (even on the toilet), my ambitions are blissfully reduced to ash and trampled under the needs of my sons.

To call me a yogini is laughable as the stiffness of my back and haziness of my mind will attest. Yet I sense the purpose of this time of intensity as part of my yogic journey.

At no other time have I been offered greater opportunity to experience physical pain, endure sleeplessness, have the limits of my patience and mental stability bombarded, and find immense joy in the smallest word and gesture. I have experienced no mirror more powerful for self-analysis than my own sons.

When I return to the mat I will be carrying a few more pounds but I’ll be stronger and psychologically leaner. My body will soon reflect that.
