There was a time when I didn’t know if I ever wanted children.
I was 40 years old. I had all the luxury in the world to pick up and go wherever and whenever I wanted. The thought of commitment or a loss of freedom was frightening to me.
I watched my friends who had already had children continued to be inspired by their love and commitment. I finally let go of the fear that was holding me back from doing something that could potentially change my life by insurmountable amounts.
A little over three years ago, I gave birth to my beautiful daughter Madeline. The minute I took a look at her, I was completely taken aback from how much love I had to give. I never knew how much I could love another human being.
Every single this little girl grows cuter and cuter. Every day I love her even more than the day before. She looks in my eyes and says, “Mommy, I just want you to love me. You are my bestie.” I look back into her innocent little face and respond, “Madeline, I will always love you. You are my bestie too.”
For all of you mothers and daughters out there, this post is for you. There is nothing like the love between a mother and daughter. That love is a bond that will last forever. And for all of you that are on the fence, do it. Having a child will completely change your life in a way that you could never imagine. Allow yourself to be full of love and give it back to someone else. It is so worth it.
