Moon is waning (dark half) and moves through Aries, Taurus, Gemini and into Cancer this week. Moon is exalted in Taurus the 27th to the 29th and moves to its own sign on the 1st.
We are still working with two debilitated planets (Venus and Mars) and Sun in its own sign of Leo with a swiftly moving Mercury there as well.
Mercury moves into Purvaphalguni nakshatra on 8.27 and Sun joins it there on 8.30. This will increase our focus on creativity, creative pursuits, relationships, money and finances, vehicles and the feminine.
Debilitated Venus moves to Chitra nakshatra on 8.31 which may heighten frustrations for some—especially emotions like anger and disappointments.
For everyone right now, using emotions effectively and paying attention to emotional ups/downs is necessary. With debilitated Mars with us until October, this is a time to note how we use our energy. Fatigue is inevitable.
Do you push through, or know when to stop and slow down?
The key word right now is balance.
Debilitated Venus thrown into the mix forces us to look at boundaries, communication of one’s needs, and being attentive to the ‘inner victim’.
See my article on the Victim/Critic paradigm posted last week for more details.
Creative Engagement Activity :::
Create a “Stop and Go” dance. Use the theme of opening and closing with a focus on the chest/heart region. Start either lying on the floor or standing. Bring awareness to your chest/heart region and play with the collapse and the opening experienced through breathing. You can keep it subtle or begin to exaggerate these movements. Continue to explore and develop this Stop/Go, Open/Close dance and note the other body parts that are used. Shoulders, spine, pelvis etc. are intimately connected to the heart and rib case. Let your dance exploration last at least 30 minutes. Then go to your sketch pad and draw an image that comes to you.
Finish this sentence: If my drawing could speak, it would tell me…
*Horoscopes are based on your Vedic rising sign. You can also check your Moon and Sun signs for further insight. Do the same with your Navamsa signs for further clarity. Do not use these horoscopes with your “Western Sign” as there is likely no correlation. These horoscopes are meant to be used as a broad overview of the current transits and obviously do not address the specifics of an individual’s unique chart.
Aries: Find your courage and creativity this week. Expand your list of “all possibilities.” Remember that the mind is like a parachute, it only functions when open. Careful with friendships, cars, pets and hired workers. The weekend may bring discomfort in home and heart. Don’t blame others for your own miseries and don’t take on others’ issues as your own.
Taurus: Your week starts on a powerful note. Use this time for education, romance, friendships, helping others and getting healing. Use courage and clarity later in the week to communicate your needs effectively. Remember your boundaries and use your heart wisely.
Gemini: Creativity and courage are trying to out-do each other. What are you learning about your self here? This week affords you the opportunity to really work on some of the hidden realms that continue to hold you back. How can you work this material into your repertoire? Befriend and develop these characters, don’t put them back in the closet.
Cancer: If you haven’t already grabbed your surf board, now is a good time to catch some waves. Tropical storm season is officially in session and can bring bigger than usual storm clouds, peak waves, or at minimum a tropical depression. Learning the ‘zen of cowabunga’ is essential. This week, friendships, retreats, boundaries, courage and creativity make a splash.
Leo: Learning the art of effective communication is the current mantra. How can careful word choice tend to, and nurture, your relationships? Set aside mind games and mental “one-ups-manship,” let the ego drop away and find the essence of human connection this week. There is a natural default of peace here that requires a creativity and a courage to maintain. You may find the vulnerability uncomfortable. Get used to it.
Libra: Finding motivation early in the week may prove difficult. Find a way to have a long weekend if possible. Allow time, space and energy for transformations, learning, spiritual practice and self care this week. Don’t expect much outer progress—focus on the inner treasures instead.
Virgo: Use this week for effective action steps and creating progressive offerings. It may not seem to amount to much- yet. It is essential to realize that baby step eventually amount to giant leaps. Use this week for a “baby steps dance.” What are your big goals and desires? Work backwards. What can you do this week that helps you achieve some of the big stuff on the list? Motivate. Ask for help if necessary.
Scorpio: Reach out and make connections this week—even if they don’t stick; it will be good practice regardless. Attend to your transformations, heart and emotions. Clean up loose ends and tend to relationships. Aim for harmony and balance on the outer and inner.
Sagittarius: Taking time to stop and look in the mirror will prove rewarding. Who and what are you looking at? What parts of your self are you witnessing? Learn from others—even if it’s what not to do. Use this week for self-reflection, self-care, healing work and tending your inner fire.
Capricorn: Hearts broken; hearts mended. Good times; bad times. Happiness and sadness. Progressive days and stagnant days. Open, close. Up, down. Bored yet? After a while all movies have the same plot line. Every story is predictable and has the same emotional rollar-coaster. This week, reflect on finding your creative zen masterpiece. Hint: there’s nothing new under the sun.
Aquarius: Be a servant of the heart and see what opens up for you in your relationships, heart center, and passions. It may require an unusual creativity for you and feel like endless upkeep, but eventually a new default mode will take over. You may wish to get feedback from others on your new embrace of the heart chakra by wearing a shirt that asks “How is my heart beating?”
Pisces: Maximizing the creative self—even when others seem to be crumbling and falling a part around you- is par for this week’s course. It takes courage and bravery to put your self first, to recognize that getting your needs met is the essential ingredient for health and balance in your life and all of your relationships. It might be time for some solid alone time, ritualized self-care and tending to your heart flame. Effective boundaries will solve most of your problems.
