I thrive on the simple things in life.
I was recently sent a Gaiam yoga mat to review—I was so happy to open the box when it arrived in the mail.
It contained what I can say it is beauty in the simple: My Tree of Wisdom mat had found its way home.
Lately I’ve been a home practitioner and to be honest, often times I find myself so immerse in the daily activities that I do not make enough room for my yoga practice. However, I have to admit that the print on this mat has been a stimulus for me to get on it.
I know that yoga practice is about going inward, but a little help to get it going never hurt anyone right?
The mat has a beautiful design of the Tree of Wisdom printed in light green, which is perfect for me because I get excited to balance in tree pose and then sit still in the comfort of the tree’s roots. The mat is three mm thin, which is ideal for me to feel rooted in the balance poses.
My mat is a safe place where I can be with myself. No worries. No insecurities. On this mat, I am happy to say that I’ve had no trouble finding just that—the color combination has definitely helped.
The shade of greens relaxing and peaceful and at the end of each practice I surrender in its small textured green cushions.
After practicing at home for awhile, I took my new mat companion on a studio outing. It was great for wooden floors, but not for carpets of hot yoga rooms. It has a good grip on dry floors but it tends to get slippery in heated rooms.
I recommend to this mat if you are a beginner who happens to love a little boost to get the practice going.
And for those more advanced into yoga practice, I would say that this is a great option for a light, thin and simple beauty to take with you through the journey.
