Presented by GO Boulder and coordinated by non-profit Community Cycles, Boulder’s 34th annual Walk & Bike Month is chock-ful of activities. The best part of Walk and Bike Month? Well, mark your calendars for Wednesday morning, June 23. If you’ve already experienced Bike to Work Day in Boulder, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, you’d better check it out.

Tuesday, June 22
Boulder Beer Bicycle Benefit
Celebrate biking in Boulder and get ready for Bike to Work Day with the Boulder Beer Bicycle Benefit at 5:30 p.m. at 2880 Wilderness Place. $15. Admission includes a buffet dinner, beer and a pair of Smartwool socks.
Wednesday, June 23 – The Big Day!
Bike to Work Day Breakfast Stations
Local companies across Boulder will host more than 45 free breakfast stations on Walk & Bike to Work Day from 7-9 a.m. See www.communitycycles.org or www.drcog.org for a complete listing and map of all breakfast stations. Visit www.communitycycles.org to register. We’ll be at Dish’s.
Great 55th Street Egg-less Relay
Check out the Great 55th Street Egg-less Relay at 11:30 a.m. at 5775 Flatirons Parkway. The contest of wills and coordination pits corporate teams of three bikers and one pedestrian in a timed relay event, with each participant balancing a plastic egg filled with jelly beans in a spoon from their mouth while negotiating an obstacle course. Awards will go to the fastest and most spirited teams. (Costumes are encouraged). Lunch will be provided. Also, join Smartwool to play the “Find a Perfect Pair” game and win free socks! Seniors on Bikes Ride
Join Seniors on Bikes for a ride from Idaho Springs to Georgetown and Silver Plume. Meet at the Table Mesa shopping center at 7:30 a.m. The group rides in two packs: a “pacer” group with an average speed of 15 mph or slower, and a “tiger” group that rides 15 mph or faster. These free rides are open to the public. Please check in one day in advance to verify ride times and locations by calling 303-494-2890.
Wednesday Women’s Run
Take part in the Wednesday Women’s Run for female runners of all abilities at 6 p.m. at Fleet Feet Sports, 2624 Broadway. For more on this event, which repeats each Wednesday, call 303-939-8000.
Bike Shorts Film Festival and Ice Cream Social
The CU Environmental Center and Community Cycles will host the Fourth Annual Bike Shorts Festival and ice cream social at Old Main on the University of Colorado campus. The ice cream social begins at 5:30 p.m. on the south lawn of Old Main, with the film festival celebrating the fun and potential of bicycling beginning at 6 p.m. Cost is $6. Proceeds benefit Community Cycles’ Youth Earn-a-Bike Program.
Fit, Position and Technique: Three Steps to Better Riding
Bring your bike and join Ray Keener at REI, 1789 28th Street, at 7 p.m. to learn how to fine tune the three most important and effective factors for improving your cycling: correct bike fit, position, and riding technique, factors that can make a huge difference in power and efficiency. Keener is the creator of Riding FUNdamentals and Ready to Pedal DVDs.

Boulder Cycling Thursday Evening Rides
Take part in the Boulder Cycling Club’s Thursday evening road ride from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The weekly ride begins and ends at Bacaro Venetian Taverna, 921 Pearl St., and heads to some of the best cycling routes around Boulder.
Thursday Evening Margarita Ride
Take part in the weekly Margarita Ride from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Presented by the Boulder Cycling Club, the casual hybrid bike ride starts and ends at Serrano’s Southwestern Grill, 6525 Gunpark Drive in Gunbarrel, and travels around Boulder Reservoir on easy trails and surrounding dirt roads.
Thursday Evening Racewalking
Fleet Feet Sports is leading a weekly racewalking session at 6 p.m. Meet at Fleet Feet, 2624 Broadway. Call 303-939-8000 for more information.

Seniors on Bikes Bagel Ride
Join Seniors on Bikes for free coffee and bagels and a ride around Martin Acres beginning at 8 a.m. at the East Boulder Recreation Center. The group rides in two packs: a “pacer” group with an average speed of 15 mph or slower, and a “tiger” group that rides 15 mph or faster. Seniors on Bikes, with more than 60 members strong, was founded by several local seniors who meet Wednesdays and Fridays for rides around Boulder County. These rides are open to the public. Nature Hike for Kids and Parents
Join early childhood educator and volunteer naturalist Debora Martin for a hike in beautiful Chautauqua meadow from 1 to 3 p.m. Meet at the Chautauqua ranger cottage for this easy hike for ages 6 and older.
Community Cycles Rolling Bike Clinic, Bike Rodeo
Community Cycles will host a rolling bike clinic and kids bike rodeo from noon to 4 p.m. at Willow Brook Condominiums, Glenwood between 28th and Folsom, in Boulder. The Community Cycles team will help visitors work on their bikes while also setting up a fun rodeo course for young riders.

Tuesday, June 29
Early Tuesday Hikers
For hikers seeking an easy pace and a moderate distance, meet at 8 a.m. at the North Boulder Park at Seventh Street and Dellwood Avenue. Hikers seeking a more moderate pace with varying distances, meet at 7:30 a.m. at the parking lot north of the Boulder Social Security Office, 4949 Pearl E. Circle. Boulder Beer Road Ride
Take part in the Boulder Beer road ride with the Boulder Cycling Club from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The ride, held every Tuesday, starts and ends at the Boulder Beer Company, 2880 Wilderness Place, and heads to Eldorado Springs, the roads northeast of Boulder and other local cycling routes.
