Photographer Jack Daly believes that everyone has a passion in life.

The UK-based photographer was 19 years old and a student at The University of Portsmith when he began documenting people, and the things that made life worth living for them.

Daly says of the ongoing project, “It started with four subjects, and the images turned out so well it tumbled into 20 pretty quickly. It’s now approaching 40 and still growing.”

While some of the passions are pretty typical things—i.e., music, books, sports-it’s striking how sometimes the smallest things or things most of us would never thing of bring the most satisfaction. (One subject is a man who owns a candy shop and cites candy as his passion in life.)

The point of this project is that a passion need not be anything grand, amazing or even special. Following one’s passion may not lead to fame to wealth, but it will almost certainly lead to happiness and honestly, that is arguably more valuable in the former.
