Above you can see the fruits of one of my best New Traditions—it has been such a critical and cultural success that I have decided to double down.
All month long (yes, all of February) I will be writing almost every day about the little (and epic) things I do to make myself laugh. It is not just about being myself anymore, oh, no—it is now about celebrating the amazing and hysterically funny creature that I have come to recognize as me.
Now that I have this plan for the month, it is difficult to contain my excitement. There are so many entertaining things I have done that I want to write about and so many amusing plans that I have yet to carry out. Frankly, and this is just between you and me, I think this ID picture thing is really just the tip of the iceberg. I am just about to blow the roof off this thing.
I can’t make any promises, but I can tell you that I have absolute faith in my abilities. I have done many amazing things in the past, and have no doubt that in the end, when it comes, I will be able to look back at the breadth and scope of my work and say with a full heart and an empty mind, “I am the most amusing person I have ever known.”
Not many people can say that in the end—they are usually too busy apologizing to their loved ones for all the pain and suffering they have caused, or saying good-bye and wishing them well. Very rarely does anyone go out laughing.
The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Mr. Dawes.
As I remember, he was laughing about a joke about a man with a wooden leg named Smith. And floating.
Yes, I do believe he was also floating.
