It kind of blows my mind that there are people who refuse to believe climate change is happening, when the evidence is all around us.

Today in Los Angeles an “Excessive Heat Warning” has been issued. Dangerously hot weather is expected.

Dangerously hot!  In mid-September!

I can recall years ago, at this time—sure it’d still be sunny and warm, but breezes would begin to kick up, and the weather would start cooling off, as we transitioned into autumn.

I’ve been living in Los Angeles County for over 30 years, and to me the changes in our climate are undeniable. This comes from simple observation. Something has shifted. Something has changed.

A few months ago, elephant columnist Bronwyn Petry wrote an excellent article noting the drastic effects of global warming in Antarctica.

In  article, she lists out the top 10 ways climate change is already affecting us, including the following:

Higher temperatures in summer, colder temperatures in winter. Erosion of the idea of what a “season” used to be. The five hottest years on record have all happened since 1997.

That is just one example!

Yet, there are folks out there who continue to turn a blind eye to the glaring evidence surrounding us.

The video clip below references a Gallup survey taken earlier this year. The results determined that one in four Americans are “skeptical of the effects of climate change and feel the issue has been exaggerated.”

But as comedian John Oliver so eloquently points out, “Who gives a sh*t? You don’t need people’s opinions on a fact!”

Skeptics may ask—what makes it factual?

Well, perhaps simply that 97% of scientists reviewing the subject of climate change concur that it is a very real issue!

Yet, so many hesitate to take the issue of climate change seriously.
