How big of a problem is domestic violence?

This infographic, from UNE School of Social Work, provides some statistics on the problem with domestic violence in the U.S., proving that perhaps domestic violence is a bigger problem than we all realize. 

Here are some statistics that stood out to me:

>> The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates seven million incidents of interpersonal violence occur each year among U.S. women ages 18 and older.

>> 36% of women and 29% of men in the U.S. have experienced rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

>> One in five female victims of domestic violence experiences at least one symptom of PTSD.

>> 3,000,000+ children witness domestic violence annually in their own homes.

With domestic violence being more costly than war in terms of human life and money, we must not be afraid to stand up and take action.
