“It is only a thought and a thought can be changed.” ~Louise Hay
I am a fan of affirmations—phrases we repeat out loud or to ourselves in an effort to inspire hope, healing or manifesting future blessings.
Many believe that by repeating an affirmation over and over we are shifting the energy around us and creating the change we desire.
I know affirmations—or mantras—have become a more common term, but I think I always used them, long before I knew that’s what I was doing.
When I was younger it was the voice that repeated, “You can do this” before a presentation at school or a big exam.
When I was a little older it was the voice that repeated, “Have faith that everything is working out the way it’s meant to.”
I still have affirmations that pop up on their own, arriving in times of need. Sometimes though, I choose them deliberately, based on a circumstance or situation that is occurring. I find they help instantly relax and soothe my mind from whatever it is I am worrying about.
Lately I’ve found myself sharing my affirmations with others when they need that extra boost. I’ll simply be talking to a friend, hear the negative idea she is voicing, and want to re-direct her to a better, more positive thought.
Changing our thoughts is one of the most powerful things we can do to heal ourselves or transform the way we perceive a situation.
Sometimes a simple shift in a belief can be the catalyst for the transformation we are hoping for.
We may find that by creating new intentions, we are manifesting new mindsets which can lead to new people, opportunities and journeys. It may seem hard to believe, but often, veering our thoughts in a new direction can impact us in ways we would never imagine.
I wanted to share some of some of the affirmations I’ve recently found most helpful in the hope they may guide or inspire others.
Here they are!
To begin your day positively: “This day brings me nothing but joy.”
When anxiety creeps in: “All is well.”
On worrying about the present: “Everything is working out in the best possible way.”
On worrying about the future: “I trust that my path is shining bright for me. I cannot lose my way.”
On confusion: “I may not understand the good in this situation, but it is there.”
On change: “I embrace this change with ease and gratitude.”
On fear: “My faith is stronger than my fear.”
On fear of making the right decision: “I trust that I will make the best choice for me at the best time.”
On fear of getting something you want: “I release my fear and my dream becomes near.” Or, “What’s meant for me will not pass me by.”
On wanting clarity that’s not present yet: “I trust that the right information will come to me at the right time.”
On waiting to find love: “I trust that love and divine timing will deliver what’s best for me.”
On wishing someone else well: “I send love and light to _____.”
On forgiveness: “I forgive and release any anger I have about/towards _____.”
On letting go: “I let go of what no longer serves my higher good.” (Feel free to be specific.)
On being angry or frustrated: “I choose love.” Or, “I choose to look at/react to this situation with love.”
On gratitude: “I am grateful for the blessings I have and the ones on their way.”
I hope these affirmations are helpful and resonate with you. As with any new mindful practice you try, it may take some getting used to, but soon you’ll find yourself repeating mantras easily and naturally.
What are your go-to mantras these days?
