The title says it all. Another abuser shamed, brought to justice and most importantly, taken out of circulation. The sentence was handed down after a seven-day hearing and 150 victims or their families, including Olympians, appeared in court to face Dr. Larry Nassar. To quote Judge Rosemarie Aquilina, I so love that a woman sentenced him:
“I just signed your death warrant.”
This may be true as even prison inmates consider rapists to be the scum they are. It is also his second long-term prison sentence. He was also sentence to 60 years in federal prison for child pornography crimes. One down, thousands more to go.

In her statement, Aly Raisman asked that those who allowed Nassar to hand pick his victims, uncontested, for years, be held accountable. This included US Gymnastics and the US Olympic Committee who, according to Raisman, have never offered any support to his many victims.
I myself have never been a victim of sexual abuse. I cannot image facing a person who had stolen my innocence in open court. I applaud Aly’s bravery and am glad that, with all its faults, the United States justice system still prosecutes and convicts sexual assault perpetrators. May they find the courage to heal and be of benefit other victims.
