If your health isn’t up-to-par, it can overshadow everything else in your life. Have you noticed how poorly you feel after eating processed or sugary foods? That could be all the proof you need. Aches, pains, lethargy, joint issues, and discomfort are all major health issues that can affect your health. And your health, as you know, can affect your stress level, happiness, and other aspects of your life.

Needless to say: taking care of yourself should be a top priority. With your health in tip-top shape, you’ll feel better in every area of your life.

Here are a few healthy habits you can adopt to treat your body like the temple it is.

Eat right

This, rightly so, should be a priority. And it shouldn’t be a surprise. You are what you eat, and if you’re not eating well, you won’t be well. That sounds like a simple equation, right?

Eating mindfully is a way to treat your body right. Improve your relationship with food, and you’ll improve your relationship with yourself.

It’s a way to pay attention to your health, and prepare your body for everything else it needs to do. Eating right because eating right is best for your body is a great mindset to adopt. If you’re eating right to fit into your favorite pair of skinny jeans you probably should have gotten rid of a few years ago, you might not keep the commitment of healthy eating for long. What happens when you fit into those jeans?

The fuel you give your body affects more than your physical wellbeing. What you eat affects how you feel, and how you think. You’ll feel more energized, your mood will be better, and you will likely fight off being sick much better.

Treat your body like the temple it is, and feed it wholesome, healthy food.

Sleep well

Sleep is a key component of your total well being. It seems like there are countless studies done on the effects of sleep, and the lack thereof.

If you can get into a good sleep routine, you’ll be amazed at the effects it has on your health. Look forward to less stress, better moods, more energy, and increased productivity. If those things don’t entice you to hit the hay a little earlier tonight, remember to avoid caffeine after 2 pm, and adopt some good sleep habits. That might mean turning off the TV and opening a book once in a while.

But you probably already knew that. Overall, quality sleep should be a priority to boost your health.

Exercise often

Finding a fitness routine or habit that works for you is essential in treating your body right. While eating right and sleeping well are parts of the equation, exercise is the missing puzzle piece.

Unfortunately, it can be tough to fit exercise into your schedule. But finding a routine that works for you – be it post-work group fitness classes or daily lunchtime walks with coworkers – is essential. One of the best ways to motivate yourself to workout is to choose an activity you actually like. It does pay to invest in your health, so try and ignore the price tag on fun boutique fitness classes like barre or indoor cycling. Checking out whether a monthly or drop-in membership is better for you can help you budget and get in a good routine of exercising often and even enjoying it.

How do you boost your health? What’s worked for you?
