Growing Up “Half & Half” was Confusing—& it was Normal.
Danny Shearer has been working in the field of psychotherapy and addiction for over 40 years. He graduated from San Diego State University, receiving his BA degree in Psychology in 1985 and MS degree in Counseling in 1988. Danny started college as a theatre art major, which did not pan out due to his addiction to mind altering chemicals and his crash and burn. He switched to psychology in his early recovery. While in San Diego, Danny was the director of several out-patient addiction treatment programs in the 80’s and 90’s. In 1999, he gave up his surfboard, grabbed a pair of hiking boots, and moved to Colorado. Danny has worked for the UC Health Systems in Ft. Collins for the last 18 years and maintains a full private practice. He also provides training and lectures on Trauma and Recovery. Danny became a certified yoga instructor in 2008. Danny is currently drafting a book titled, “Stacking the Odds Toward Long Term Recovery.” He has been abstinent from all mind-altering chemicals since 1982. Danny is still an excitement junkie and has run 49 marathons, several ultra-marathons, and climbed 90+ mountains over 14,000 feet. Ice climbing and skiing is his Winter dope. His Mexican heritage has made him a phenomenal cook. Ask him about his homemade salsa and mole. You can connect with him on his website.
