Iresha Picot, M.Ed, LBS is a Licensed Behavior Specialist and Therapist, Doula, and Community Activist. A Philly transplant by way of Virginia, Iresha’s work is centered around Black Feminism, Birth, Prison Abolitionism, and Behavior and Mental Health. Iresha is the co-editor of the book The Color of Hope: People of Color Mental Health Narratives, and has written articles in the Research in the Teaching of English, Elephant Journal, Aunt Chloe’s Journal, Specter Magazine, and For Harriet.
Iresha is one of the members and founders of the Black Feminist Working Group that produced the 12-point platform on Black Feminism, “What Sistas Want, What Sistas Need,” which was published in Barbara’s Smith’s Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around: Forty Years of Movement Building.
A Birth and Full Spectrum Doula (“52nd Street Doula”), Iresha has been able to support over 30 women during their birthing experience.
