Moses Dixon on How to Choose the Right Charity to Support
Moses Dixon is a community activist and political advocate for others throughout his career. He has developed a high-level understanding of the issues that face communities, such as gentrification, neighborhood revitalization, racial disparities in education and criminal justice, and more. As a recent interdisciplinary graduate from the State University of New York at Binghamton, Moses Dixon seeks out connections in seemingly un-connected facets of the world. He has been happy to work in non-profit and political sectors that have allowed him to live out his passions for the people that can most benefit from their work. Outside of work, he is a Christian, and member of the Belmont AME Zion Church, which continues to push him towards his passions, and inspire him to continue bettering himself and others.
As of today, Moses Dixon is the CEO of the Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging, an organization focused on enhancing the quality of life for older individuals and caregivers alike throughout central Massachusetts. The Agency seeks to provide a variety of services to older citizens, including legal assistance, transportation, nutrition, and crisis intervention.
Moses Dixon has also been published throughout his academic career. In 2009, he published “A Qualitative Analysis of African Americans’ Role in Preparing Future Leaders” with the National Conference on Undergraduate Research through the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse; in 2011 – along with eight other authors – he published “Youth and Young Adult Homelessness in Worcester, Massachusetts”; and in 2013, he published “A Strategic Overview of The Proposed Slots Parlor in The City of Worcester, Massachusetts Green Island Area” through Clark University.
He is also a member of Belmont AME Zion Church, he serves on the Board of Governors for the YMCA of Central Massachusetts, and he is a Board Member of the Main South Community Development Corporation.
