The Dark Side of Nationalism.
Paolo Coluzzi was born in Milan, Italy, in 1960. When he was 27, he left his job in Italy and moved to London, then to Spain, the Netherland, UK again (where he completed his PhD thanks to a scholarship), and from there, a few years later, to Brunei on the Island of Borneo where he landed his first academic job. After that he ventured on his six-month backpacking in Southeast Asia, before starting to work at the university in Malaysia where he is presently employed. For the last 17 years, since he moved to Brunei, he has taken every opportunity to travel extensively, particularly in South, East and Southeast Asia, writing about his experiences as a traveller, as a Buddhist, and as a (modern) hippie. His latest books are ‘Buddhism and Pilgrimage’ (Mud Pie Books 2021) and ‘Hippie Manifesto’ (Independently published 2023). A selection of Paolo’s photographs related to Buddhism is viewable here.
