It is a indirect method to determine the tensile strength of concrete. It’s defined as the capacity of a slab of concrete that is not reinforced to resist the bending.

Factors That Affect Concrete Strength
There are several factors that influence the quality of your concrete mixture. Let’s look at them further:
1. Ratio of Cement to Water
This is the proportion of cement to water in your concrete mix. A lower ratio of cement to water makes for a stronger mix but is also harder to operate with. A higher ratio of water to cement produces a more runny mix that is easy to work with. The most durable concrete is one is made up of a mix of both.
2. Materials’ Proportion
The most basic ingredients that are used to make concrete mixes are water, aggregates, and cement. The quantity of each utilized determines the quality of the mix. For instance, a mix that is mostly cement will be easily poured and runny. However, the mixture could be very easy to crack. However excessive cement could cause hard and porous concrete.
3. Mixing Time
The amount of time required for mixing the concrete can help in determining its strength. The optimal time to mix concrete can be a challenge, because it is dependent on several factors such as the type of mixture utilized as well as how fast the mix as well as the components that are that are used in the mix.
In general, your strength in the mix will increase the more you mix. However, mixing for too long can cause the liquid to evaporate out of the mix.
