Thomas A. Mattingly, a country boy, father, writer, occasional entrepreneur, manager, and proponent of Oxford comma, Thomas A. Mattingly is the author of six books including Getting to First Base: The Single Father’s Guide to Dating, fiction, The Dream Seeker, and the childrens book, Father Like a Tree. Mattingly’s first five books were written under the pseudonym, “Matthew S. Field.”

A widower since 2005 when his wife, Lori, of 13-years succumbed to breast cancer, Mattingly has been a single father to his three children, two daughters and a son, who were 7-years-old, 4-years-old, and 7-months-old, respectively, at the time of their mother’s passing. At that time, Mattingly’s retired from his career in corporate management to become a full-time parent and a part-time writer.

In 2019, Thomas A. Mattingly opened a gastropub/sportsbar, Mattingly’s Tavern in Florida, New York where he serves one of the best burgers anywhere and often sits at the end of the bar with his laptop open and writes books, newspaper and magazine articles, and posts for the Elephant Journal.
